Day 5 Reflections

In a word, our time with Lilly has been magical. She is simply the most beautiful person Joni and I have ever met. Not a day goes by that we don't look into her big blue eyes and say "Thank you, God." I had NO IDEA that being a parent would be this wonderful. Lilly is living proof that God is faithful. In just five days, I've learned so much about the Kingdom of God. More about that later . . .

I was debating about whether or not to share this story in such a public place like a blog, but it's too hilarious not to share. I just have to . . .

A couple hours ago as I was putting a pad lock on my backyard fence (another story altogether), Joni ran outside and said, "Come in right now . . . you won't believe what just happened!" At least a dozen disastrous scenarios raced through my mind: Lilly has fallen out of her swing, Rudy has taken a bite out of Lilly's leg, Joni has injured herself somehow, etc. I dropped the padlock and ran inside, nearly tripping as I entered the house. I saw Joni's blonde ponytail swish past the hallway, so I followed right behind her toward Lilly's room. The thoughts were coming more furiously now. What in the world will I find in that room? Lilly was lying on her changing table that her grandpa Ron made, Janice was reaching for the baby wipes, and Joni said with a finger pointing toward Lilly's rear end, "Lilly just had a HUGE explosion in her diaper! Look at it!" I must tell you at this point that Lilly hadn't had a good ole bowel movement (or BM as my grandma used to say) in about 24 hours. This was good news. But still, you brought me all the way in here to show me an explosion of poop? Are you kidding me?

I remember you guys talking about this stuff when we were EATING at Corky's in Little Rock.

Really gross, and really funny.
