1 Month Today!
We can hardly believe that it's been a month since we brought precious Lilly home from the hospital. Here' s a top 10 list from month one (in no particular order):
1. Bringing Lilly home
2. Introducing Lilly to Rudy
3. Watching the looks on everyone's faces who heard a massive bomb go off in Lilly's diaper in the middle of a very serious conversation. The result was awkward silence and lots of nervous laughter.
4. Lilly's first bath
5. Watching our parents rock Lilly to sleep
6. Hanging out with friends like the Kisers and Otts who've recently had babies, too. The common experience of parenthood brings friends closer, I think.
7. Holding Lilly while watching college football
8. Listening to Lilly's baby talk, which is becoming more frequent with time
9. The numerous times we've explained the significance of Lilly's name (Lillian = my great-grandmother's first name, Mae = Joni's grandmother's middle name. Both of these women are spiritual giants in our family.)
10. Holding my and Joni's baby pictures beside Lilly to notice resemblances
And here are some pictures . . .

We couldn't agree more! We enjoyed our time with you guys so much and getting to squeeze on little Lilly. We keep praying our ministry paths will cross again.
Just so you know, you can NEVER post too many pictures of her.
Seriously.
She's beautiful!!
There's nothing like a new baby.
There's also nothing like a bomb going off in their diaper. Makes you afraid to open it.
Glad you're doing well. Hope Nora and Lilly can meet one day. I know they'd be fast friends.
Hold Lilly and watch football as long as you can. I have to put Nora in a sleeper hold just to get her to watch 5 minutes!

What a beauty! You need to post pictures of you and Joni so we can see who she looks more like.
Also could you recommend a book about an overview of different religions. Our reach group is thinking about doing that. If one comes to mind you can post it on the blog or email Matt.
Amanda - By "different religions" do you mean groups like Islam, Buddhism, and Christianity? Or do you mean various groups within the Christian faith . . . Baptist, Presbyterian, Roman Catholic, etc?
Josh,
Actually recommend for both groups, if you can. The various groups within the Christian faith as well as all around Islam, Buddhist, etc. It would be nice to know why we have all these terrorists attacks and what they believe. Of course we may have to do two different studies since it covers so much.
Thanks,
Amanda
Amanda,
If I were you, I'd google "world relgions textbook" to find a basic overview of world religions. Most state universities have an introductory level class on this topic, so you shouldn't run into any difficulty finding a book. I'd try to find an entry-level textbook on the three primary world religions - Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. Having a Bible on-hand during the study would be helpful too.
In terms of different groups within Christianity, I'd highly recommend the following book by Gaustad and Schmidt: http://tinyurl.com/hw4s6.
