Rudy and Lilly

From day one we were a little unsure of how Rudy would react to Lilly. We got Rudy in August 2005 then a year later Lilly was born in August 2006. So Rudy had a whole year to get used to being the "baby" of the family. Josh and I did a pretty good job spoiling him as well. Rudy could tell something was up all summer before Lilly arrived. He did not like us keeping him out of the new baby room and he couldn't understand why we wouldn't give him all of the stuffed animals that were suddenly arriving in our house from all the baby showers. He thought life was pretty unfair. When we brought Lilly home from the hospital he was very curious. He wanted to lick her all over and wasn't quite sure why we kept pushing him away. Over the last few months he has surprised us with how well he has taken to being baby #2. He doesn't go after her toys anymore and try to tear them up. He has even tried to give her some of his toys so she could play with him. Lately she has been very excited about Rudy as well. She smiles at him, laughs at him, and even tries to reach out and grab, pet, or lick him. It has been fun to watch them together and we are so thankful that Rudy has turned out to be a baby friendly dog.
