Settling In
It is hard to believe that in a few weeks we will have been here a year. Moving from Amarillo, Texas with a three month old the week before Thanksgiving was not exactly the funnest thing ever. Josh and I said we will never move before the holidays again. We found a rent house in Cordova through a friend. We had always planned to wait till January to start looking for a house to purchase, but in September I was ready to start looking because we kept hearing that it was a buyer's market and the time to buy was now. So, we contacted another friend who is a Realtor and she agreed that it would be a good idea to at least start the process. So we did.
We honestly expected to not find "the one" until after the first of the year. But we found it during our second outing! We were shocked. The price was right, the floor plan was ideal, the space was more than adequate, the location was right on target. And we got a great deal, let me tell you. Collierville, TN isn't the easiest place to buy a home. Homes were selling for nearly $110 per square foot. Needless to say, we're not paying that much!
Here's the hilarious part: We're set to move on November 10 - exactly when we moved one year ago!
One more thing - When we looked at the house one last time before making an offer, our Realtor found some neighbors for us to meet. We were talking and they were telling us about the neighborhood association and activities they have every year for kids - Halloween parade, Fourth of July picnic, etc. The neighbors asked Josh what he did for a living (which always makes him nervous), and of course he told them that he was a minister. Well, it turns out that the guy we were talking to is also a minister. The neighborhood is primarily made up of young families with small children. We're excited about meeting new friends.
By the way, we do realize that this is just a house . . . bricks, shingles, sheet rock, and wood. There are so many more important things to write about, but we're so thankful for God's provision. He has been so faithful to us. And it feels good to know that we're officially settling in. We love the life God has given here.

That is something to be thankful for. It sounds like a great place to raise your family and meet some wonderful friends. I can't wait to see it!
