What Did She Say?
We've all been wondering for the last several months about what would be Lilly's first word. Well, our speculation and guessing have come to an end. Here are Lilly's first THREE words:
(1) "Bubbles." (Lilly says "buh-buhs") When Lilly turned eleven months old, we were playing with her bubble machine just like we did nearly every other day, when out of nowhere, Lilly starts saying "buh-buhs" over and over again. We were so excited you would've thought that she had belted out an entire sentence. It was a big day in the Patrick house.
(2) "Uh-Oh." This word (Josh questions the legitimacy of this word . . . Isn't uh-oh a word?) came along more gradually with some good ole parental training. One of Lilly's favorite things to do now is throw down whatever we give her. Everything from her bib, a toy, her sippy cup, and even a miniature Noah's Ark has been thrown down or dropped. At first she just said "uh" without the "oh." But now she says it well and very, very often.
(3) "Da-Da." When Josh comes home after work, Lilly looks at him with a huge grin, crawls toward him furiously and says "Da-Da." She's been saying for months now, but just recently she has connected it with her daddy. She now acknowledges Josh as her "Da-Da." He melts like butter when she says it!

Great job, Lilly! She is so precious! Have a fun, safe trip this weekend.
I would melt like butter too! And at least she is getting it down to call you dada and (hopefully soon) mama. I still get "doo lie" half the time from Ryan.
Isn't it so exciting every time they do something new. Lilly is adorable! A couple of months ago Drew and I decided to move back to the states. We'll be back in a few days. Maybe we can get together with you guys sometime. (That was me who deleted the comment. I just wanted to edit it but I guess that is not an option:)
We would love to see you. My email address is jonipatrick@gmail.com. Give us a holler.
