An Early Christmas
We started a new tradition this year. We decided that it would be best to trade off spending Thanksgiving with one side of the family and Christmas with the other side of the family and then switching it for next year. So we decided this year we would head to Atlanta for Thanksgiving. It was going to be the only time we could all get together with my brother, his new wife, Fonda, and their kids. Because of this we decided to have an early Christmas. So when Lilly awoke to our early Christmas morning she was surprised to find a Princess car waiting for her under the tree from "Santa." She was so excited about a toy she could actually ride on.....
Then we all watched the parade on TV and she got even more excited to see the Sesame Street characters singing. She has a new fascination for Sesame Street, especially Elmo. Then we all got ready, ate an incredible meal, and had our Christmas. She could actually help open her presents this year and she wanted to look carefully at each new toy to discover what she had gotten. It was so neat to think about how she just sat there last year watching and how this year she was able to join in on the fun.
Nana and Papa loved having Lilly at their house. She has so much fun with her grandparents. We were all really sad that Granny had changed so much since our last visit. Last time she was delighted to see Lilly and loved watching her play. She even got out of her chair and acted like she was jumping up and down, which made Lilly smile and laugh with delight. Since was have been away, Granny fell and fractured her left hip. She had surgery to help repair this hip. Granny was transfered to a Nursing home for rehabilitation. Unfortunately, two months later she is still unable to walk and is suffering from Alzheimer's. It is heartbreaking to watch someone who you love dearly suffer in this way. So we remember the good times together with Granny and pray daily for her.
