"Boat, get in"
These were the first words out of Lilly's mouth when we woke up at Smith Lake for our Memorial Day get away. Josh's brother graduated from High School - Congrats Matt! - and we were in Huntsville for the big celebration and decided that we would take some time for some much needed rest and relaxation at Uncle Tim's lake house. We had a blast!
Here she is sporting the super cute pink life vest as she rides in the boat. She loved being in the boat feeling the wind on her face, watching the waves around us, listening to Tim's fun music, but then before we knew it she was snuggled up with her eyes closed fast asleep. We thought this to be a little odd, but as soon as the boat slowed down she would pop up and say "I like it." She loved watching as Josh and I rode the Jet Skis, which would go up to 70 mph, across the water. She kept pointing at them saying "daddy boat." And with all the extra attention from family members, especially TuTu and Totsie, Lilly couldn't have been happier at the lake. We are definitely taking another trip to Smith Lake ASAP!
Oh and I do have to mention the morning of fishing, where I proved that fishing is somewhat of a natural thing that comes from my family of origin. I used to go fishing all the time when I was a little girl with my dad and brother. My dad still loves to go and my brother just won first place in a fishing tournament a couple of weekends ago. Well I can't remember the last time I picked up a pole, but while we were at the lake I just couldn't resist. So one morning before most of the family was awake. (Lilly gets up around 6:30, so the days of sleeping in are pretty much over for now.) We headed down to the dock to see what was going on in the water and we could see so many fish swimming around, and yes the lake water here was pretty clear. So we got the chicken liver ready on the line and I dropped it into the water. I immediately caught one, reeled it in for Lilly to see, took the hook out, and threw it back. Then I tried again and a huge fish down there took the whole line this time and broke it before I could reel it in. Josh and Lilly got impatient waiting to see another fish and headed up to play. Well I was determined to get that big old fish, so I waited it out. Before long, I had hooked the fish and was reeling in as fast as I could. It was heavy, so I was screaming for Josh to come back down and help me get it into the net. To our surprise it was a catfish. I had always heard that they have some kind of stingers, so I was not about to attempt to take the hook out of this one by myself. I just had to wait till everyone else got up. This ended my fishing for the weekend, but I was so excited that I still had all of my skills that I grew up with. Lilly kept saying "uh-oh" while looking at the two fish I caught. I think she likes watching them in the water more than looking at them above water with a hook in their mouth.
