The Beach
I think this picture says it all! Lilly had a blast at the beach. She was a little unsure of those big waves rolling in and did not want to stand in the ocean all by herself, but she loved the sand and being outside all day. Her phrase of the week was "There it is." Each time when we would get to the view of the ocean as we were walking out to our spot she would say those three little words that just made the long hike to the beach worth it every day. Our usual routine was to start at the beach and end up at the pool. By the end of the week, she was "swimming" in the pool all by herself with only her floaties. It was really amazing. She spent time at the pool watching all the bigger kids and decided she wanted to be like them I guess. We did take her baby pool out to the beach and she loved getting into her little pool to cool off.
We found this fresh seafood place and spent most of the week grilling the best tasting fish ever and Josh and I loaded up on the shrimp - it was our favorite! We loved cooking and staying in for dinner. It was so much easier with Lilly and we could spend most of the day at the beach and pool and not have to worry about getting ready to go out. We did manage to make it into town for some outlet shopping and dinner at Lambert's. Lilly thought this was the funnest place ever. She was amazed at the flying rolls and even managed to catch two or three. The funniest thing was when they put the okra down on our table, she looked at it and said "chicken nuggets" and then she ate so many pieces we lost count.
Nana and Papa loved watching Lilly play and enjoy the outdoors and we loved having extra help with our nearly two year old. There were a few moments Josh and I were both thinking where has our sweet little girl gone. I guess that is normal though, or at least that is what we keep hearing from everyone.
It was a nice change to celebrate the 4th out on the beach soaking in the sun. It was really a treat when my mom and dad volunteered to stay in during nap time so Josh and I could just go out and relax by the ocean.
This picture was taken the night we got there and went out to the beach for the first time. Lilly couldn't believe that there was sand everywhere she looked and her eyes were so big as she stared out watching the waves come rolling in. We made many good memories this week and enjoyed every minute of being away from our busy lives back home. Computers and cell phones were put away and we just spent time hanging out and playing. We definitely need to do this more often!

Joni,
I am so glad you were able to get away. It is nice and necessary to go and be without computers and cell phones for awhile, huh? I am also glad you were truly able to relax and get some time alone.
I absolutely love the last two pictures. Who took them? They are beautiful and frame worthy!
