Surprise Josh!

Today I am wishing my husband a Happy 30th Birthday! I think birthdays are great and so much fun to celebrate. So when the year for the big 30 hit, I had to do something special for my hubby. As some of you know I am so much of a planner and like to have everything in order way to early, so of course- that means I started planning for this party back in Dec. When Jan hit: I had ordered invites, made a list of people and started calling to see where we could have the party. I thought about church, the house, friend's houses.....but the end result was a restaurant. Josh's favorite spot is the Half Shell and the one closest to us has a party room that will hold about 40. I narrowed the guest list to just a few friends and family and sent the invites out.
As time got closer, I kept thinking how am I going to pull this off without letting him know. Josh is also one who usually is pretty aware of what is going on and it is very hard to pull off a surprise for him. His family is in town for the weekend and I had mentioned earlier "Why don't we go to the Half Shell for your birthday. We can take your parents since they have never been and eat there for an early lunch or something." (The invitation stated for everyone to arrive at 11 and we would be there at 11:20.) Josh's initial reaction was "Why are you smiling?" I quickly had to become distracted by Lilly so I wouldn't give it away. Meanwhile, I had arranged for one of my dear friends to design the ultimate Superman Cake for Josh. And I must admit it looked incredible - she did a great job!
The day arrived and we pulled into the Half Shell right about 11:20. I noticed everyone's car right away and Josh appeared to be scanning the parking lot, but he said later he did not notice one car and was thinking about his sermon. When we walked in I told the lady our name and number and she slipped and said are you with that party of 35 or something? As I was making a face and shaking my head for her not to say that, she led us to the party room where everyone yelled out surprise. I can't wait to see the pictures of Josh's face when he walked in! He said he had no idea till the hostess spilled the number of people in the party....I can't believe we really pulled it off!

Thanks to everyone who helped us make this 30th celebration memorable. Happy Birthday Josh, I look forward to celebrating many many more with you!
