On the road....
Lilly and I made it through our first car trip this past weekend, just the two of us. I have always been hesitant about driving long distances with just me and her - I mean who would get all the stuff she dropped, entertain her when she got bored, meet all her needs, and very importantly - work the DVD player. There was no way I could possibly do all this and drive at the same time right. Well my dad was turning 60 and my brother's new baby girl would be three weeks old, so I really wanted to go visit everyone in Atlanta! Lilly and I had always flown down there, I really took advantage of that free flight until two years old. Now I would just have to get brave and drive. The thought of making it all the way to Atlanta, seemed too overwhelming. So we decided to make a long trip of with a stop in Huntsville to see Totsie and Pop along the way. We left last Wednesday, drove to Hunstville and spent the night. Then we got up Thursday drove to Atlanta, stayed till Sunday, drove back to Huntsville. Then made our way back home Monday morning. Five nights away from daddy were really hard, but it was a great trip. Lilly got very spoiled by all the grandparents. We got to meet baby Jayce - who was adorable and Lilly was very interested in this new baby. The first thing she said was "What is she supposed to do Papa?" Lilly would pat Jayce, kiss her, and actually helped Nana hold her bottle to feed her. She was so into the baby thing - I hope this will be true in our house come this June.
Anyways, I do have to admit that driving a minivan helped so much. I now can control the DVD player from the front seat, there are six CD's to choose from, which makes it easier to play DJ for all of Lilly's favorite songs. And this is the smoothest ride we have ever had on the interstate. I never thought I would be saying this, but I love driving a van. And now we have tons of space for our two girls! On the way home, Lilly was more fussy. But the poor thing had to be worn out from our long trip. Josh met us at home Monday for lunch and we have loved hanging out together all week and getting back into our old routine of being home. It is fun to get away, but I have to admit that I am quite a homebody and love our little daily routines. I think it will be quite a while before I venture away by myself again with the kids - we will have to wait till Joy is older and now that I am almost 7 months along with the pregnancy, traveling is just not that fun. But now I know it can be done.......here are some of the pictures.....
Jayce Miles Wiley - Born January 31 - Isn't she precious!
